Dr. Grossomanides has over 20 years of experience in pharmacy benefit management.  He is the Senior Clinical Pharmacist at Advanced Pharmacy Concepts where he is responsible for the pharmacy department at the Blue Cross plan. He also serves in the capacity of Director of Pharmacy Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont and is responsible for all aspects of pharmacy management at the plan including utilization review, formulary development, clinical edits and interactions with the PBM.  Dr. Grossomanides’ experience includes creation of formularies for a range of plans, development of prior authorization and drug utilization review guidelines, audit and analysis of claims and utilization data, as well as the provision of detailed guidance and education to providers on pharmacotherapeutic and formulary issues.

Dr. Grossomanides received his doctor of pharmacy degree at the University of Rhode Island and he is currently an adjunct professor of clinical pharmacy at the university. He previously worked at the Westerly Hospital as a clinical pharmacist for 17 years.

Dr. Grossomanides is widely published, an experienced presenter at national and regional conferences, and has received numerous awards in pharmacy leadership and community service. He is involved in several professional societies including the American Pharmaceutical Association, the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists, and the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy. In addition, he served as past president of the Rhode Island Society of Hospital Pharmacists and the Rhode Island Pharmacists Association.
