Michael D. Tarantino, MD, is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Department of Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria and Medical Director at the Bleeding and Clotting Disorders Institute in Peoria, Illinois. He received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine before completing a residency in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Arizona and a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin Children’s Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. Dr. Tarantino is board-certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
Dr. Tarantino is considered to be one of the foremost thought leaders in the field of bleeding and clotting disorders. His signal contributions include authoring over 100 publications and playing a pivotal role in clinical research that has vetted some of the most widely used treatments for this population.
Dr. Tarantino is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Society of Hematology, Hemophilia Research Society, National Hemophilia Foundation, World Federation of Hemophilia, and International Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis among others.
He also serves on the Medical Advisory Committee of the Hemophilia Foundation of Illinois and Medical Advisory Board of the Platelet Disorders Support Association. Dr. Tarantino has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and lectures extensively in the United States, and abroad. |
